The Clinton Humane Society has made a commitment to save every healthy, behaviorally sound pet who comes through our doors. We never euthanize an animal due to lack of space, or because they have been here to long. Because of this commitment, there may be times during the year when we are unable to accept every pet immediately due to space limitations. When this occurs, we will do our best to help owners find alternative solutions. And, of course you can keep checking back with us as space may open up eventually.
If you need to surrender a pet, please call our shelter at (563) 242-2457 to start the process. We will inform you of the wait time, sometimes it’s immediate sometimes it could be two to three weeks. We ask that you be honest with us about your situation and the history of the animal. This helps us give the best care at our facility, and to better inform the new potential adopter. Please remember we are not obligated to take surrenders and can only do so if we have the space to house the animal. There is a mandatory $65 fee for surrendering a pet. This helps us pay for food, shelter, and any veterinary services until we can find your pet a new forever home.
