Volunteering is an excellent way to become involved and make a positive difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them. The most important skills you will need to become a volunteer is love and respect for animals.
We need volunteers for many reasons! If you have a particular skill (even if it isn’t directly associated with animal care) let us know! We may need it. Here are some of the roles our volunteers play.
Adoption Counselor: Be a matchmaker by working one-on-one with a family to meet and take home the best pet for them.
Administrative Assistant: Help our front desk staff with paperwork, answering phones, and making phone calls
Animal Caregiver: Clean, feed and care for cats, dogs and critters.
Biographer: Help animals get adopted by writing short web “bios” about those up for adoption.
Canine Companion: Work with dogs to walk, enrich, and work on behavior and training.
Community Services: Complete community service hours doing one of our many volunteer activities.
Event Coordination: Help us plan or participate in special events such as fundraisers or off sight adoption events.
Foster Care Provider: Care for animals with special needs in the comfort of your own home. Foster candidates include infant, fragile, scared or recovering animals.
Humane Education: Work with our staff to facilitate programs for young pet-lovers.
Pet Photographer/Handler: Help get animals adopted by taking photos, or helping our volunteer photographers handle and “pose” adoptable pets.
Special Skills: Do you specialize in one area or another? Tell us about it! Grooming, landscaping, handy work, web design, grant writing, fundraising, etc.
Thank you for your consideration of volunteering your time with us. We hope to see you soon!
